Sorry, just one more wee thought on cannibal787's post which read;
I don't agree with that. The difference is that Blaine and
Copperfield don't actually claim that they are levitating or walking
through stuff.
If the ad guy thing was completely fake I'd be quite pissed off 'cos
that isn't impressive in the slightest. Anyone could do that.
BTW, what evidence is there that it was faked?!?
1. The Ad Guy programme. Think back to when you first saw that
programme, didn't you go, like, "wow that's shit hot!!" first when
Derren revealed his prediction from a sealed envelope and again when
you saw all the preperation for the subliminal images....YES!!
Right you enjoyed the show. That's what it's all about.
Entertainment.
2. "Anyone could do that!!" Probably yes. But no-one else did.
The brillianly imaginative mind of DB did. In retrospect anyone can
say "anyone could do that" Yeah! So why didn't they? You could also
apply that statement to 50% of magic tricks if you knew how they were
done. How ever simple the machanics of an effect, if it WOW's an
audience then it doesn't matter.
3. What evidence is there that it was faked. EXACTLY. What
evidence is there that any of DB's stuff, on or off stage is faked.
Okay we've seen DB use a clipboard, can anyone PROVE it was a trick
one?
Now I'm not being naive and gonna say it was all on the level but
unless we KNOW we'll spin ideas round forever.
This forum is picking apart a persons act and some are being
disappointed by the results. This is not real life. We are all in
the priviledged position to use the magical minds amoung us to
unravel the MAGIC that Derren created when we first saw him. The
general public are not in this positio. They see the magic and are
entertained by it and DB is a great magician. Unravel the secrets
onf ANY magician and you are gonna be disappointed.
One last point that came from a different post about people who say
they know how somethings done but don't tell. YES, I have DB's
second half sussed. The reasons I will not expose it are as follows
1. DB asked us not to discuss the second half.
2. The effects are not mine to give away.
3. This is not a forum for 'magicians only' and therefore the
disussion of methods of MAGIC (unlike NLP etc) effects is not
appropriate.
This is my opinion and I hope you will respect it.
