First off, yes I am a professional magician

Secondly I use conditioning with my audience all the time. For
example. I know that in my performance I will have a coin palmed in
my hand. Firstly I will look to see how I hold my hand with a coin
palmed in it. I then replicate that posture frequently throughout my
act when my hand is empty. My audience becomes familiar with the
empty hand posture. When I do have something palmed, because the
posture is the same, they suspect nothing and assume the hand is
still empty. Okay that's a very basic example. Here's another
subtler one. The vanish of a billiard ball. Toss a ball through the
air from hand to hand. After 3 or 4 repetitions go through the
motion of tossing the ball to the other hand but actually retain it.
Let the other hand go through the motions of catching it. Your
audience will swear it's there, open you hand and it's gone. Of
course while they are misdirected you can ditch the ball in the other
hand.

These were two examples of very simple conditioning. I could write
more complex ones but descrptions would take up to much space.

So okay I'm no expert on NLP, I don't claim to be.

Perhaps you would enlighten us all on your own theories instead of
criticising others in such a demeaning manor.

For the record

I object to the tone of the comment "…for someone who claims to be a
professional magician.."

I also object to the inference that I was "..deliberately trying to
muddy the water."
