I had not thought about the elbows - I will definitely try this - you will
move a bunch of force to the less powerful triceps for a start.

But I absolutely assure you that when you learn Judo (or Jujitsu or several
other arts) you are taught from a very early stage, how to counter a whole
bunch of lifts/throws by simply bending your knees - the 'major shoulder
throw' is the best example of this.

I noticed that the girl is wearing baggy trousers too. So it's difficult
to confirm - but absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

ohhh - that's a claim and a half - any insights to support it?

DB has clearly listened to the Photoreading course, and if you do also, you
will see why I say that. But let me say that I think you're most likely
RIGHT - ie. DB is bluffing it (incredibly well, but bluffing it
nonetheless.) Photoreading is truly incredible when you get it to work,
but it's all frame-of-mind and it can be tricky to achieve, certainly when
you start anyway. There are apparently far easier ways to achieve this
effect without developing advanced mental skills.
