Subject: observations on MC Night (E4)

Hi all,

I was quite pleased to have watched Derren's many scenes last night
and figured out roughly how he does most of his mentalist "tricks".

Just a few things:

1.) During the Oxford Union stunt with the black envelope, was the
tractor suggested as an image by Derren's initial "thank you all for
inviting me here; you're all very aTRACTive" sentence, as I could
find no other subliminal direction?

2.) Quite a simple one, this... but how does Derren know how to
choose his "victims"? Which non-verbal indicators help to determine
whether or not someone is susceptible to suggestion?

3.) I could clearly see how Derren was leading the woman at the
trainstation to guess the man's name (the use of the plosive 'p' in
the word "explode" was a biggie!), but I fail to see how he can
determine the chat-up line from the model's (aesthetically-appealing)
exterior. I had initially thought that Derren was looking for lip-
pursing, throat clues, etc., but with such a complex sentence as "my
friends say I'd be good for you" I am baffled as to how he gets it!

Overall, a great night of TV entertainment!

Cheers,

Tim
