Subject: Re: [Derren Brown] Re: persuasion skills (a genitic trait?)
I think the eye contact part is maybe the most thing. I tend to move my lips in
this weird way as well, as if im about to talk, but then withhold what i'm about
to say, then i take a small breath and shift my position ( always maintaining
eye contact though). I dont know how much posture has to do with it all, but i
do have really good posture. I think that commands some authoritive presense.
Instantly the person your talking to believes that your interested in what
theyre saying but also smart since you appear to be considering their every
word. In reality you could be thinking their the biggest tosser youve ever met.
Also never underestimate the power of a smile... Its quite simply charming and
a little flitatious!
I also do this weird hair thing, which i only use if the person im talking to
is not business related( its a habit ive had for years) and i think ive only
jut realised that its quite possible an anchoring device.( I have long hair and
tend to place a strand of it under my nose when someones talking about
something sensetive) when i talk i instantly stop it but i'll keep doing it at
various points in the conversation....I dont know when, id have to get someone
to analyse it.
This is me just trying to see if i can remember what exactly i do. I gesture
alot though. I really cant analyse it, i just seem to get on a persons
wavelength very quickly. However, the simpler the person the harder that is,
for me anyway. i dont understand any of this, and im sure you have a really
cool knowlege of all of it. I was trained as a classical dancer and i suspect
that im very physically aware of many things but.... who knows

Yes u have a natural talent - be very happy!
NLP is the modeling of excellence, no one understood (not even
Milton) why Milton Erickson was such a good hypnotist, he did'nt
know all the fancy terminology - he was just a great hypnotist
Bandler and Grinder ( I met John Grinder Last week - very
intelligent - not as charismatic as Richard) modeled Milton and
created the formula - pattern of what he did, so the rest of us
could learn
Now you have a gift, an opportunity to share and learn how you do
this.
So firstly when you persuade some one, whats the first thing you
notice in your body?
