Subject: Actual Tips On How To Do The DB Stuff !

Arg, I just wrote a huge message, and clicked preview - and it then
wanted to confirm my password (entire message lost!)

So again I try:

Hello,
I wanted to gather a concise collection of tips to do the DB stuff, I
found it hard to find much of it going through the posts so.. writing
based on my observations & limited research, some ideas some people
may find informative (not stealing, this is a viable observation
which was expected to be figured out anyway!) or at least fun..

1.
The S thing (like he did on the last show)

For this example we want them to think of the letter S. Tell them
your drawing a letter down (which you do, only you can see it) and
they are gonna try to 'see' what it is. Basically, you gotta use as
many 's' sounds as you can to improve the chance of them picking S.
Tell them not to guess it yet, that would be 'silly' as there would
be a pretty SLIM chance of gueSSing from twenty Six letterS. So,
inStead, *imagine* <-thats important, imagination is the key!- (im
gonna change perspective here) "I am scribbling down this letter
(drawing an S shape in the air, if you are doing it in front of them
make sure to do it backwards) and as I do this you start to get this
image of the letter on some kind of screen. You may change your mind
a few times, but make sure you choose the one that feels most natural
to you, probably the one you first imagined."

That should do it, I kinda missed some of that last show so this is
my interpretation of it, I tried something like it once, it half
worked (they picked some other letter but it turned out S was the
first letter they actually thought of - you have to be careful how
you get them to choose it!). Using words like 'scribbling' instead of
writing is presumably gonna increase your chance, but you may feel
its too obvious..

2. Try this..

Something you could add is to tell they are going to make that letter
a colour in a moment. You can try this too right now, imagine
someones saying the following and go with it honestly - "Take your
time choosing a colour, red orange yellow.. whatever feels right, I'm
leaving it up to you, it should be planted in your mind quite
naturally and as Im speaking now, keep that colour, get it on a big
screen.. and finally, going with that colour, paint your letter with
this colour!". How was that? Even you could add - now with this
coloured letter, see can you imagine this as a living creature, what
would it be? Hopefully, if this is not too obvious, badly construced
etc. then you will end up with of course a snake... you know what
colour most snakes are! (In kids books anyway)

My own idea! Hard to find people willing to try it on, it pisses alot
of people off! Especially when it keeps not working (I did this on
the phone actually, it ended with me saying, so you have a snake
right? Yes. Cool, must have worked... a green S? No, a yellow R!! He
found it hard to make it an animal, but if you really try, you can
make a yellow R into a snake (they can go the shape of most letters
right? Hehe)

3. Hand on table.. (like one of them radio shows)
I don't know how to make this work really, but briefly, "put your
hand on the table. Push it into the table hard! (thats important
methinks). Look at me." Look at them! A bit below their eyes, you
want to speak to their sub-conscious. Say in authoritive voice "When
I snap my fingers/pick my nose etc. you will be unable to lift your
hand. No matter how hard you try to UNSTICK your hand it will remain
FIRMLY STUCK to the table, the harder you try, the more it presses
into the table." Try waving your hand while doing this, and then
while picking your nose, wave your hand again and challenge them
to 'try lifting their hand'. Can this work?? Am I missing something??
The same for memory loss, get them to recall what its like to lose
their memory, when they do, perform an action you can use again to
make them forget (hand wave), also telling them they will not
remember their name (or how to spell it or how old they are)... but
this hasn't worked for me (tried 1 person!)

So hopefully some of you can share more to this thread, I have more
if you do! Until then, your all very... good writers..
