Subject: To Gordon.

Gordon, you should tone the sarcasm down a bit;
I'm not sure if you want me to answer serious
questions or your just being generally
obnoxious.

I'll answer your questions anyway. Firstly the number
one rule on the internet is never tell anyone were
you live so I won't tell you where I study, sorry. If
you're serious about being a psychology student, almost
all universities offer a course. As far as
hypnotherapy is concerned, many hypnotherapist offer courses
or know someone who does. I have only just got
interested in NLP as it is a relatively new "science" and is
not included on many psychology courses as many
psychologists believe that it is flawed because one of its main
rules is that if some one can do something anyone can
do it. The general disagreement comes about when
thinking about people like Einstein and Mozart whose
genius has yet to be map by NLP.

I'm sorry if you
spent money on books on stage hypnosis that my posts
disagree with, but I know for a fact that the method I
stated is one method that stage hypnotists use, there
may be others methods that I don't know about but I
one thing is certain, there are limits to what
hypnosis can do (contrary to popular belief) and that
there is NO way that hypnosis can make a person do
something that they don't want or are not willing to
do.
I suggest that you go and get hypnotised by a
clinical hypnotherapist to experience what hypnosis is
really like.

As far as books are concerned,
learning to hypnotise from a book is just a waste of time.
You really need the one to one lessons with a
hypnotherapist, or attend a seminar. The books are not regulated
so any one can publish them, how many books have you
seen that say "use hypnosis to seduce women" or some
crap like that. Hypnosis can't be used to make someone
do what he or she don't want to in the first place.
The word hypnosis is used because it's a buzzword,
people see it and think of all the movie and TV programs
that they have seen where the bad guy hypnotises the
good guys to do what he wants. The books that say you
can seduce people this way do not use hypnosis they
either use persuasion techniques and body language or
are just crap written to get money of desperate
idiots.

Even Derren Brown says that his act doesn't use much,
if any, hypnosis because if it did he wouldn't be
able to do half the things he does. And some of you
keep saying he lying, why should he lye, he admitted
to using stage hypnosis earlier in his career why
should he lye now. HOW MUCH MORE PROOF DO YOU
WANT.

Hypnosis is just a heighten state of relaxation that allow
suggestions to be more easily accepted and more firmly fix in
the mind of the subject. It is not magic, it is not
some supernatural way of controlling people, and it is
not a quick fix.

If hypnosis was a magic
method of controlling people I would be going out with a
super model and have Bill Gates hand me his shares in
Microsoft.

In closing I didn't say that stage hypnotist didn't
use hypnosis, I just said that they rely more on
suggestion and expectation than on true deep hypnotic
states.
