Subject: Re: Stooges
Personally, I think it would be professional
suicide to use stooges. All it takes is one of them to
sell their story to the News of The World and Derren's
credibility will be undermined in a big way. His career would
be over.
So why take that risk? As for
effects being too "clean", that is almost certainly down
to clever editing which hides the "dirty"
work.
Derren and 3 other people behind the show were
questioned about stooges at mind magic last year, and they
categorically denied they were used.
However, just to
throw something else into the melting pot. Joe
Dunninger was the most famous mentalist of the last
century. In the US after the war, he was second only to
the US president in terms of public recognition. He
offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could prove that
he used stooges - he never had to pay out. The
shocking truth is that he DID use stooges on a regular
basis. Food for thought?
