Hello Glyncoy. I think Derren is a lot better
than most mentalists. In this country, there isn't
really anyone who can touch him in terms of being great
for TV.

I've seen Nyman perform quite often. I
don't think he has the star quality that Derren has. He
used to say "Oooooooooh yeah" quite a bit but I don't
know if he does that any longer. It was quite
annoying.

Graham Jolley is quite old and his act is the not the
sort of thing that would capture the imagination of
generation X like Derren has.

The country's other
mind magic performers are all not quite as marketable
as DB. Marc Paul... nice guy but he looks a bit
simian from certain angles and his stuff can teeter on
the border of 'a bit cheesy'. Danny Buckler... he is
a bit like the Bradley Walsh of mentalism. Berglas:
Knocking on a bit. And so on. Marc Salem is a good
performer but he simply couldn't do Derren's show. The
reason? He isn't as pretty as DB. DB is the sort of
person Channel 4 want in their schedules. The world of
TV is very fickle.

Oh, and I have another
point. I don't think that words like 'book test' should
be used in this group. If visitors want to believe
in photoreading, let them believe in photoreading.
And so on.
