Yeah, the St John Passion is far better than the Matthew - if you get
a chance, go and hear it at St Pauls Cathedral this Easter (NB I'm
not sure which one is this year - they alternate between them every
year. The acoustics for the free seats at the back are awful - book
in advance and get seats under the dome. They can be pricey.)

The Goldbergs are great fun to play - you should get hold of the
Barenreuter Urtext if you can, because then you get the original
score - not edited.

BWV 639 - Ich ruf zu Dir is a great organ chorale by Bach. Two
manuals + pedals. Get it from MP3.com - try
http://www.mp3.com/PhantOrg first, otherwise search the whole of
MP3.com.

>"About the radio bristol top 5.... Seriously interesting. The man
has an obsession with Bach. The goldberg variations were mentioned
along with st matthews passion. I personally find the st johns
opening better though! But how sad am i. I went and bought the sheet
music for the goldberg variations and am currently learning them on
the piano! You know an obsession has gone slightly over board when
that happens! But Ive learnt one already, only 29 to go! Im so sad, i
cant believe im writting this! na na
since im on the subject of classical music and all of you guys seem
to be an educated bunch I was wondering if any of you have any great
classical finds, that are relatively unusual. I ask purely since im
always on the look out for weird and wonderful peices. I dont just
meen the piano stuff. My latest exciting find was Geirr Tveitt's
piano concerto no 1 in f major! But Poulencs ( sorry I cant remember
how to spell it) starbat marter is one of my all time favourites. As
for Opera, im still investigating..."
