When derren does an effect he is definatly not lazy. He will go out
of the way to fill it with distractions and anything to make it look
more stunning and make the audience bealive.
From all i can make out, he puts all of the boxers into a trance. And
as you rightly say he takes on the role of the Coach. He adds more
than one element to ever trick to make it more likely to sucseed.
I think if you were intrested in making this technique to a friend or
whatever you should read up about NLP trance. I have heard Trance
formations to be an exellent book to read in the area.
Hope this help, im sure after you do the home work you will be able
to spot the hypnotic langauge and the other traits of the act.
