I gather from Derren's comments in the past that he uses suggestion,
that he did in fact use suggestion here.
If I was to create this effect I would think along the lines of doing
things like the Hand-clasp test, not being able to open eyes, hand
levitation etc... I suppose that he just took out any direct
suggestions, to me it seemed significant how he seemed to take on the
role of their trainer/coach.
