To be honest - on the first watch I wasn't expecting it - i was
expecting the number one. "settle on one..... I only get ONE shot at
this.... " etc

But when I watched it a second time, knowing that the guy had chosen
number two, i did notice that when derren counted through the cards
initially, he always looked down at the envelopes, EXCEPT for the
number 2 - when he looks directly into the guys eyes, so I think that
this trick was more about a forceful suggestion than about mind
reading - the guy didn't give anything away to me when he counted
from 1 to 5, but then thats just me.

I did like what the guy said about looking at the fifth envelope to
try and throw derren off - he tried gawd bless his little cotton
socks!

still... £10,000 on one trick - derren's very sure of himself.

I wonder if he had a certain amount of cheques already written iut
for different amounts, each depending on how sure he was that his
suggestion had been accepted - it wouldnt make sense to me to bet
£10,000 on a trick you're not %100 will work - but then £500 might be
a good way to go... still.. its a heck of a lot of money.
