Subject: URLs et al
Check out this little bunch of gems:
The interesting links I found have been embedded in this
my-approach-to-information-finding-on-the-web... I've also thrown in other
thoughts as I have had them:
My journey started by stumbling across a Marc Salem presentation which was
on a Graham Norton episode which happened to be on one of my girlfriends
"hit record and go out" tapes. A quick google and..
http://www.marcsalem.com/
...and contrary to what it says on his web site, his scifi channel program
was called "mind over mind", can find any schedules for it though :(
On the subject of which, does anybody know when MC1 and MC3 are being
repeated??
I trust we have all been to:
http://www.channel4.com/science/microsites/M/mindcontrol/index.html
The first link of any real interest off the Salem site was:
http://www.marcsalem.com/tools.html
He recommends you read several books and then.. Tada.. A psychology paper
(they're free!!) :)
Detecting deception from the body or face. Journal of Personality and
Social Psychology
Due to a cut and paste error, my googling stated with:
"Detecting deception from the body or face. Journal of Personality and"
This found me a nice bullet pointed list of things that indicate deception:
http://www.radford.edu/~maamodt/Psyc%20405/Detecting%20Deception.doc
...realising that there is also another bunch of paper references at the
bottom of this document as well.
The next very interesting read was:
http://www.paulekman.com/Deceit%20Generalizes.doc
I've now noticed that there are quite a lot of links of face and body
reading in the LAW depaertments of the universities. Quite obvious once
you think about it, but then isn't everything?!
Now... THIS looks very interesting:
http://www3.usal.es/~nonverbal/miscell/grouped.htm
The comments on "baby signs" (sign language for babies) is good, it
demonstrates how to use multiple parts of the brain to catalog vocabulary,
although they don't seem to put it in those terms anywhere (that I've
read.) For example 'flap arms and say "BIRD"' or 'pant and say
"DOG"'. One comment that made me laugh was the response to "is this any
good for babies of 20 months old", the answer is "its good for children of
ages". Why can't I, a grown up (apparently), use physical anchors to
assist in memory techniques? There's nothing like writing down the lyrics
of a song to help you recall them, a quick glimpe of the page and they all
come flooding back (very handy on stage.)
Anyway back to the video encoding...
