I haven't spotted Paul Daniels (aka P Diddy) in ages. The last thing
I saw him in was the Louis Theroux show where he came out very
badly. Before that I saw a programme with him starting from scratch
in USA performing under a pseudonym (like anyone knew/cared who Paul
Daniels was anyway). He actually came across a lot better. He had to
rely a lot more on his ability with a deck of cards and not on some
notoriety and well worn catchphrases. But as you pointed out - he
is "of his time" and doesn't translate too well.

I think pre-show work has been hinted at here numerous times and
there is always the option of editing things to make the effect that
bit better in the post production.

Well that's assuming anyone watches the show! As you have pointed out
most sensible people have better things to do on a Friday night.

I dunno. His knowing what the name she was thinking of is more
impressive to me (however he got it). I think the taxi is more a
novel way of revealing it - a unique presentation. IIRC it was
scrawled on the cab with spray paint? I thought that the camera
focussed on the cab, then back on the woman and then DB attracted the
woman's attention onto the cab - but it has been a while since I saw
it!
