Subject: Derren's methods

Obviouslly derren uses techniques of creating rapport and pacing.
However before he goes onto his actual 'trick' he usually talks to
the person who will be involved. This is because as he does this he
is distracting their conscious minds, and therefore making any
suggestion much more powerful....To do this he usually uses the same
method...by introducing some ambiguity to his language. for
example 'speaking to you as an intelligent person....' (who is the
intelligent person, me or you or both of us?). The mind is
distracted, although it may b very subtle to us as we experience it.
How often in daily life does someone say something and we suddenly go
off into our own day dream world without even noticing it.

Once the unconscious mind is more exposed then he can put in his
commands. However he canot just command you directly or your
conscious mind will realise, and become alert. One such way to get
past this is to use embedded commands (explained below).

Notice when u ask a question your voice tone goes up at the end.
When you give a statement your voice tone stays level. When a command
is given, the tone goes down at the end of the command, when spoken.
Embedding commands means putting a question to somebody, but using a
commanding tonality at the end. For example if you where to say "will
you go the cinema with me?" but instead of raising your voice at the
end, lowered the tone instead on the words 'go to the cinema with
me', then the suconscious mind would pick up the words 'go to the
cinema with me' as a command. The consious mind remains unaware
though, as u only asked a question after all (nudge nudge wink wink).

Final points. The change in tone is only very subtle, dont over do it
and use a barry white tone for a command, when u usually talk like
alan ball. Finally, the commands word best if u put the in the
present tense. thanx for listening...good to be back. Ithullian
