Subject: Stage Hypnosis Part2

Then the hypnotist starts the show and does a
whole dramatic act of making the subjects fall into a
deep trance. They have all seen the TV shows and the
movies and believe that they will become deep in trance,
plus the first person in the line is usually a stooge
put there by the hypnotist who will be the first to
be "hypnotised". He will go out like a light at the
command "sleep" and when the hypnotist moves to the next
subject they will copy what happen to the first subject
believing that they will be hypnotised because of what has
just happened to the first subject and also because
they don't want to be the "odd one out".

From
here on out the subjects will probably do what the
hypnotist asks just by the pure fact that they want to be
the centre of attention and that everyone else is
doing as he says so they are convinced that he is
making them do these things.

You can mess around
with stage hypnotists if you want by pretending to be
a verbal type and go out to show them up but I
wouldn't advise it as they tend to get mad if you start
messing their show up half way through the act, trust me
I know.

I will admit it is possible for some
people to go into a true hypnotic trance like in
clinical hypnosis but this is very rare in such
performances.

In clinical hypnosis you put people into a deep
relaxation in order to make suggestion that will stick
firmly into the mind of the patient. It is not a quick
process it can take 5 to 6 one-hour sessions to get a
repressed memory up to cure a phobia.
I know a lot of
clinical hypnotist hate stage hypnotists because they
present this image that give a false impression of what
hypnosis is, its not only the stage hypnotists fault it
also is movies and TV.
For instance, when I was
first hypnotised, to get rid of my server vertigo I had
this expectation that I would become deep in trance
and be dreaming of past memories like they where
happening to me now and not have any recollection of the
real world during the trance. I was very surprised to
find that this is not so and in fact was doubting that
I was hypnotised. Finally during a session I got a
memory of when I was 3 and was hanging out of a window
and almost fell out but my mum grabbed me before I
fell. This was the repressed memory that was causing my
vertigo. This took 7 one-hour sessions and each trance
state took about 5 minutes to reach. It is possible to
put people into mild trances in seconds but the
suggestion only temporary and I have found that these
methods have little clinical use.

In short stage
hypnotist is mostly suggestion and only mild trances can be
reached at best. I don't know how many of you actually
are studying to be hypnotist either clinical or
stage, but some of you seem to have the wrong, most
common expectations of hypnosis.

Anymore question
about hypnosis and I'll be happy to answer them.
