Subject: Review of Devil's Picturebook

Well, I've watched the video through once now,
and it's a definite 10/10. Probably not going to
appeal too much to fans of Mind Control, but that was
never the intention anyway.

Includes
demonstrations and explanations of the 3 card routine, Oil and
Water, Out of this World, Card under Box, Zamiel's Rose
and many, many more, including Derren's most noted
card effect 'Smoke', which really gets a reaction from
those watching the demonstration, and quite rightly
too!!

Also, demonstrations of techniques first outlined
in Pure Effect such as the Velvet Turnover and the
Figaro Transfer, which are a lot easier to follow on
film. Derren also introduces us to Mike, who has a very
stylish and easy-to-learn technique which is one of my
favourites on the tape.

The latter portion of the
tape is devoted to my real interest...card forcing!
Derren gives numerous demonstrations of how to force
cards or get people to think of a given card, and
indeed goes very close to a technique I am currently
using in a Tarot card routine (the REAL Devil's
Picturebook for you history buffs out there!). He also
demonstrates many invisible deck techniques, i.e. card tricks
without cards, which are again equally
impressive.

After the credits roll, we get to enjoy Derren's
short black-and-white film 'Poncing around London at
3am', which makes me fear for his
sanity!!

Overall, a must have any way you look at it....I'll let
you know when I'm done with Absolute
Magic!

Daniel
