As a practising Mentalist, I find your
assumptions very interesting, your comment of the so called
experts not offering an explanation is, well would you?
if you could earn £2,000 for two hours work, would
you give your "tricks" to anyone who asked? I think
not, I certainly do not.
Derren is happy to
discuss his techniques with fellow practising Mentalists,
but you will never find them on any club or board
such as this, I have been privileged to share
information with Derren as well as other Mentalists but you
always have to keep a few secrets yourself!! otherwise
everyone would be using the tricks and techniques and then
it would become "the norm" and every aspiring Paul
Daniels would using Mentalism techniques in his magic
show and that is what most professional Mentalists
want to avoid. I shall be meeting Derren and other
World Famous Mentalists in November again this year at
our regular Yearly convention and will make him aware
of this group.
In the meantime I suggest
instead of hazarding guesses which is all very well and
very interesting, you should research the craft in
your own ways, you will learn alot more, most of you
have only seen Derren, check out Max Maven, his links
are on the boards, also Kreskin, Dunninger etc.
If you can get a copy of the "bible" I mentioned
previously, get a copy, its probably one of the best books
you will ever read, nothing compares to
it.
This is one of the most comprehensive books ever
written on the subject of mentalism and mind reading. A
virtual encyclopedia with over 400 pages covering every
aspect of mental magic. If you're serious about learning
to perform mental miracles, this is the place to
start.
