The seminar was really enjoyable & I learned a lot. Being new to
NLP, I had read about, but not performed anchoring before. After the
seminar, the very same evening, I went to a party at my gym. As soon
as I got there, I stopped thinking about "trying" to directly mirror
people as I met them, and simply found that rapport was gained much
easier if I used the techniques I learned earlier in that day. I
noticed someone I had seen around the gym but not spoken to before
and just said hi. At that point, I was interested in practicing what
I had learned in the seminar more than anything else. Matching his
posture and his state, I talked about subjects which made him laugh.
I used the neck of the Budweiser bottle to make a sliding anchor -
to anchor him to a "happy" state. I fired the anchor when I said
goodbye and moved on to another group of people.
Later that evening, the guy I had spoken to earlier actually waited
patiently for a gap in the conversation so that he could say bye to
me before he left. Now when I see him in the gym, rapport is gained
really quickly because of the anchoring I had used on that evening.
Pretty cool stuff!
