Subject: Official Fan Forums
Dearly Beloved,
Once upon a time there was a discussion group that was created for
fans. It had informal beginnings and was greatly liked.
It was decided that the group would be come official.
In order to avoid ruffling people's feathers, there was consultation
and because of this people felt included and gladly felt involved in
the new forum.
Important matters such as the requirements of the Data Protection
Act were taken into consideration and the transfer of email
addresses etc. was done on a consent basis.
Members of the new group were able to post and read the forum via
email if they were unable to have web access. It was made explicit
whether making the groups new official status was an attempt to
impose a degree of censorship or control on what was said.
Any similarities between the above description and any events
recently taking place with this group are coincidental... and
certainly not obvious to me.
