He did his 'image transmission' trick. First, he got Fern to shut her eyes,
then produced an envelope which he got Philip to open. It was a drawing of a
flower (simple - five petals, single stalk, two small leaves at the base -
the sort of flower everyone would draw if asked to draw a flower). He then
got Philip to concentrate on the picture and look at Fern. He got Philip to
sit on the picture so that Fern could not see it. Then Fern opened her eyes
and Derren asked her to imagine an image forming at the back of her head. He
gave her a large notepad and asked her to draw what she was thinking.
Surprise, surprise she drew a flower - identical to Derren's flower.

What was interesting was that there was lots of vases of flowers in the
studio, including one on the coffee table in front of them.

Then, he did the childhood memory routine with Philip. It took him a while,
and he got a few things wrong, but eventually he guessed that he was
thinking of when his hamster died at the age of 7 or 8.

Interestingly, whenever I've seen Derren do this on TV the childhood memory
is always at the age of about 7.

I would have thought of the first memory I have - which is falling out of my
high-chair at the age of about 18 months. Would Derren guess that, I wonder.

You know, despite all the discussion and scepticism, he's bloody good at
what he does. However he does it: standard magician stuff or pure psychology
and body reading, it works well.
