Burling Hull began his magic career at the ripe old age of four when he
invented his first magic trick. A professional magic dealer by 18, he became
one of the most prolific inventors and authors in magic history. Hull was
also notoriously protective of his secrets and methods.
As a magic dealer, Hull specialized in mail-order magic, but soon after
turned to writing and teaching specific areas of magic. He is best known for
Expert Billiard Ball Magic. Published in 1910, it is the first step-by-step
illustrated how-to magic book.
Hull's other inventions include the Menetekel Deck, as well as the Floating
Lightbulb. Most importantly, he is remembered as the inventor of the
Svengali Deck in 1909.
This book is packed with original and very devious methods of reading
audience members' messages, sealed envelopes, diabolical related effects and
some entire routines that are still perfectly valid today. It is also of
great value to collectors of magic and mentalism.
The book's binding is in a worn state but all of its contents are in very
good condition. 60pp. hardback.
