I kind of wish I hadn't joined this group. It's spoilt the sense of wonder I
had. Watching Derren on TV, I believed that he was using NLP techniques,
body language etc at a very advanced level to carry out his feats.

Following this thread, it is clear that Derren is 'merely' a very good
magician who wraps his stuff up in psychological waffle. In a way, the clues
were always there on his TV shows, the comments he made; 'I used to be a
magician' and 'I don't do what you are about to see any more because it's
not really fair': downplays what he 'used to do' to make us more open to
what we are about to see.

To paraphrase Kevin Spacey in the Usual Suspects, the greatest trick Derren
ever played was convincing us all he was not a magician.

Hey hey,

There you are - was fun while it lasted huh? :)

I wanted to reply to your essay question a while back
regarding 'Derren does magic tricks and talks bollocks...' but I
thought it wouldn't be appropriate here.

As for Non-Zero... surely you can work out who is Robin.M is if you
looked at Tom Martin's name again to see the M means Martin - he
already said it was his brother.

Speak to you later Rob...
