DB did outline the 'mechanics' of the technique ( somewhere , but I can't
remember , sorry!)
he used for the 'Dog Track' ; if my imperfect memory serves me - the technique
takes a lot of confidence and no little timing ( which is why his assistant
flunked it before DB stepped in ). But here does - basically , the slamming on
the security grill was to cause a sudden state of shock/confusion in the mind
of the cashier - a momentary 'void' - the mind doesn't like such gaps , so a
rapid acceptable suggestion that fills the void will , in most cases, be acted
upon. In other words , the cashier heard what she wanted to hear to fill in the
'gap' created by the shock , and paid out on a duff losing ticket .
Therapeutically , some-one In shock" is very suggestible , and providing you
are congruent initially with their experience , e.g. a physical injury "...you
are experiencing pain but by following my simple instructions you will very
shortly find that pain becomes less and less" - it should be very helpful as a
form of 'First Aid'.
An aside - despite the occasional 'flaming' that goes on in this Group - the
inquisitiveness of its members about anything and everything is a delightful
antidote to my misanthropic depressions!
