In essence "there is no middle of a handshake" (Milton Erickson), once the
handshake has started, the brain will be suggestive (stuck in the "what
what what" "...do I do now" cycle) until it the shake is
completed. Without being abusive to the situation, as Erickson often is,
you can ensure about 1.5 seconds of introversion/trance using this method
alone.
When fighting, hit the guy on the nose. His eyes WILL water, buying about
2 seconds of confusion; Then hit him in the groin - he WILL bend forwards,
buying about 2 seconds of confusion; As he moves off balance, push him
further, buying about 2 seconds of confusion; etc.
..the same theory can be applied to trance induction.
HSI; K-Pace; Tonality shift; etc.
Out of interest, I've never thought to look... Does DB complete the
hand-shake as the guy gets out of the ghost train?
