See this is what I dont understand. Interviewers always ask him how
he reads peoples minds (as a general question, not giving too much
away) the first time and he always replies that it is the person
giving him clues like lip/throat reading or whatever u want to think.
Whenever Derren does the second thing like "oh yeah, u were also
thinking of a tomato" the interviewers stop there, say something
like "right, u are a freak and very scary" and then move on. They
dont stop and say "hey, how did u do that one"! And the reason they
don't is that Derren quite obviously leaves them baffled and scared
so that they dont even consider thinking about it. This I think, is
the reason why he has to do the slow build up first and pretend he is
doing that lip reading thing;- so that interviewers can question him
on that and not the fact that he knew what the person was thinking
from the very start (somehow)!
