Subject: Guessing the chat up line...
Now this definately has to be one of Derren's best effects. It's
litrally to good to be true. There's definately something dodgy going
on there. I mean there's no way he could have just guessed the whole
sentence like that even if he was lip or throat reading or whatever.
He has trouble guessing words sometimes, and how could he have done a
whole sentence soooo quickly, and quite effortlessely??
Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I'll discuss it
again for the benefit of the newbies here! >:)
If you watch closely when derren is talking to Phillipa (the one
that's next to him). Watch Derren's right hand. When he's just about
to tell her the chatup line, he gives Phillipa a kinsthetic anchor on
her left rist, with his right hand. He says "My friend said i'd be
good for you", and while he's saying that he's squeezing her wrist,
and as soon as he's finished she's totally melted, and sooo impressed
and can't believe it etc...
I don't know whether this was conscious on Derren's part (but I would
guess it is); but it definately had the anchor effect. And the
touching (kinsthetic) anchor has the most profound anchor of them all!
What I want to know is whether he 'fired' that anchor later on that
night, while they were having a drink, or perhaps while he was
dropping her at her doorstep, lol. And brought Phillipa back to that
pleasurable / melting state.
This is a good technique if you're a magician, and really want to
impress some girl (or guy). If you effect someone (with one of David
Blaine's double lift routines :) ), and make them go into that state,
you should do it just like Derren did. He timed it perfectly, and
held onto the anchor (i.e. her wrist), until the state had peeked.
Then he let go, and got a kiss! Watch it closely, you'll see what I'm
talking about.
It was a fantastic effect, and probably one of his most baffling.
There was a bit of irony as well. If you hear what Derren said at the
beginning of that scene -"People always ask me can you get
extraordinarily beautiful women into bed with
you ........uhhh........Yes, Yes I can!".
Is he suggesting (indirectly), that he got Phillipa or all three into
bed with him that night!?? hahahahah -notice that he said women (as
in more then one)
