As long as you're genuinely into magic and stuff im ok with that,
good to see young talented magicians about. I think you're fine, just
means we can't go to a bar and if we do you'll have to drink cokes
all night :)
We will assume you already know the number they are thinking of...
The effect is this:

You get someone to think of a number between 30-100, then you do the
mind-reading gesture (whatever your suited performance is for that)
and while doing that you write down loads of numbers (probably in
sets of 4's) and the spectator will think you're wrong all the way
through it.
At the end of it they will probably think you've failed with all them
attempts! So you ask what their number is... in this example they
have chosen 60. So you say "60 - really? That's bizarre because you
see.... each line ADDS up to 60 across, downloads, and even
diagonally"
Example of the 4x4 is:

4x4 Grid added up:

08, 11, 40, 01 <-- 60 (8 + 11 + 40 + 01 = 60)
39, 02, 07, 12 <-- 60
03, 42, 09, 06 <-- 60
10, 05, 04, 41 <-- 60

60 60 60 60 60 (diagonal)
That should freak them out a bit with your mental/mathematical skills.
You can freak them out more by saying you will ADD the edge numbers
with the opposite ends ie. 11 + 40 + 05 + 04 = 60
or you can do 39 + 03 + 12 + 06 = 60.
To rub it in further - ADD the middle 4 numbers:
02 + 07 + 42 + 09 = 60.
Hope that diagram is easy to understand and that i've explained it
well enough to get the idea.
