Hmm, I think it's time a "delightful girly"
cleared up the whole NLP

mess (well, we are good at clearing up).

In order to do this, I consulted the first, and indeed
last, magic

book I ever read, namely The Paul Daniels Magic Annual
(1986, sadly

out of print). Back then, my clumsy female hands would
not allow me

to master the puerile tricks packaged with the book,
so I flung them

away, weeping tears of girlish frustration. As I
sobbed, I spied the

following entry in the excellent and admirably
thorough appendices,

penned by Daniels' "lovely assistant" and
wife, Debbie. I reproduce

it here with my humblest apologies to the lovely
Debbie.

BROWN, DERREN

--see also "NLP CONTROVERSY"

Although not yet out of short trousers, Derren Brown
is well on his

way to achieving his most ambitious goal - perhaps the
most ambitious

goal a magician has ever aspired to. Soon, he will
succeed in making

a load of blokes argue on the internet about whether
NLP is a valid

science or something adults tell children about to
make them behave.

The debate will rage further - does Derren use these
controversial

methods/mumbo-jumbo or is it some sort of magnetic
device strapped

behind his ear? A standard round of the argument will
resemble the

following:

MadMagic001: Can someone please tell me how Derren
does that trick

where he makes you get off the tube and forget your
losing greyhound?

Is it NLP or some sort of magnetic device strapped
behind his ear? I

want to use it in my Butlin's routine. Thanx.

SolemnMagus: NLP!!? Don't make me laugh, mate. If you
fell for that

BS that Derren uses NLP, well sorry. I have seen many
a master

magician fall for this explanation, yes it is
seductive but there is

no way that is all he uses. NLP is a great cover
story, but if u r in

the know like me you will realise it's 999% rubbish.
He uses standard

hypnosis and a Marigold glove, look at the tape.

HypnoBoy: It is all suggestion, listen to his words!!
If you fell for

that BS that Derren doesn't use NLP, well sorry. It is
a double

bluff. If you want to take over the world, e-mail me
for details of

my course, starts next week.

Ron: HI!!!I like magnets!!

NeilWriter59: Stop posting method.

Prophetic, eh?

If possible, please take this in the affectionate
fun-poking spirit

it was intended. If not, please be inventive.

In my defence, the worst insults to magicians seem to
come from other

magicians. I am not a magician. (The first part of the
story is

completely true.)
