Couple of bits that may help.

Do a five minute relaxation before you start. Clear your mind of daily
clutter - take each stray thought, and place it safely to one side for
later. Do not rush this, not until you are well versed in what is
happening during this.

Clasp your hands together and squeeze them tightly whilst reciting your
pre-SCRIPTED speech.

Give yourself an anchor "I will count to <x> and when I reach <x> I will be
unable to unclasp my hands"

Add some support "the harder I try in vain to unclasp my hands, the more I
try the more my hands will be clasped together"

Set some addition anchors like "and every time I <look at my hands> I will
<see> how they are simply clasped"

The Jo Whiley interview has some good lines when he sticks
<whats'her'names> hand to the table.

I have found far greater success doing this on other people. If you have
doubts, you may find that it is far easier to convince a.n.other that you
can do it, than yourself?

But take five minutes to relax them with some nice, softly spoken, laid
back chat (and hopefully build rapport), get them to remember times when
they saw hypnotists being successful, and tell them that you will now show
them how it's done - not "can i try it" but "I WILL show you"

Keep if keep persevering the way that you are to date - you ARE going to
succeed, and when you do, it will be like a bolt of lightning as everything
instantly ceases to be "trial and error" and becomes "knowledge" - It's a
feeling like the first time you saw one of those weird 3D pictures (there's
a medical reason for that as well) - and just as seductive.
