Subject: patterns

So after doing a tad more research on a subject I'm new to I've
discovered that some people have a use of set language patterns , ie
speeches which they've devised before hand, learned then used in a
given situation to get a consistent effect.

Just wondering if people have to make up all there own patterns or
is there a source I could get a few from. If not any books or web
sites that are good for devising your own.

Thanks
