Killer,

We must nip this misunderstanding in the bud (so to speak.) Take time to
consider this gesture of good-will.

You present yourself as one who is quick to dismiss ideas. Ideas which
many others feel are valid. Yet you offer little or no validation for your
reasoning. I realise that you are not required to do this, but you're
right about one thing, I loovvee intellectual debate (aka. arguing); to
have my ideas met with well structured and considered alternatives, gives
me the inspiration that I use to improve myself daily. I had been hoping
to inspire this attitude in you. I failed :(

I'm sorry I misinterpreted your intentions. Please be assured, now, that I
will not challenge your viewpoint again. It was not my intention to upset
you so much - and it certainly is not worth fighting over! Maybe you
misinterpreted my "kick yourself" comment - it an expression my family uses
and means something like "saying d'oh as you slap your forehead". Now I
come to think of it, I can't remember hearing anyone outside my family
saying it - D'oh <slaps forhead> ;)

To further help the aniosity on it's way out, maybe you will appreciate my
intention: My intention had been to rock your boat _just_ enough to get
your ideas from you. I theorised that if you were so quick to dismiss the
ideas of others, you most likely know something we don't - and if you know
something I don't, my nature is to try and find out from you what it
is. It seems that my misjudged 'rocking' accidentally sent things
over-board. Please accept this rubber-ring of friendship :)

Hey, you wanna laugh? I was so inspired by the fact that there was a group
on nntp for constructive arguing that I actually went and looked for the
site you recommended, but could not find it - it goes from
'alt.architecture' to 'alt.argus'!? Have I just been the sucker to a good
wind-up, or have I just completely failed to work out how to use the
internet again? I must say, I don't usually bother with nntp, as
everything I am generally involved with has a YAHOO group, and that
generates more than sufficient in my inbox each day.

BTW. The emails that were fwd'ed from me was a miscalculation on my behalf
which I explained and apologised for in
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/derrenbrown/message/1957
...so I think, in view of my public apology, your words on this matter were
perhaps a little brash.

You also asked about _my_ insights, and that's certainly a valid
question. I have given a (afaik) comprehensive breakdown of several of DBs
performances (the first to mind is the "ISSSSabel" gag) and many insights
into several others; I have offered my services in providing an off-line
archive of the newsgroup and other material to anybody who asks; I have
offered to help maintain a FAQ; I have published a couple of articles,
namely "Grouping and Dividing as an Aide Memoire" and "The Big Picture";
Supplied a number of new links; Offered my enthusiasm to setting up
hypnosis practice classes; And shown my support for Terry (ganetauk) who
writes enthusiastically and insightfully on this group and has offered to
share for FREE (at least I am presuming his £450 comment was a joke) a
model of DB - something which I am sure (given the author) will be a
fantastic read for all DB fans everywhere.

Lastly, _I_ do not consider your description of me as a "dickhead" as
swearing, but in all fairness it is for the moderators to decide upon what
is and isn't acceptable. To my knowledge there is no way to "adult-rate" a
YAHOO newsgroup.

I think that covers all the points you raised. hopefully we can now "stop
all the fussin' an' the fuedin'" and get back to some healthy 'how-dunnit'
detective work on the master himself, Derren Brown.
