You did NOT ask "for afew books that would be useful to start off with"
You DID say "I don't know where to start ... i hate using the internet to
order things"

I stand by my previous statement, if you start with the FREE stuff here,
some of which is off-topic and some of which is amazingly insightful, then
you will not need to order anything at all.

If you especially want to pay for stuff, and as you have now clarified,
what you want to pay for is books, then I stand by my previous
statement. If you look through this message archive you will find lots of
book reccomendations by many of our members. Then what you do is, go to
your local bookshop and say "please will you order a copy of <blah blah> by
<Mr bluurg>", they do all the computery ordering type stuff with THEIR
supplier, add a little markup for good luck and give you a phone call to
tell you that it has arrived.

If you do check this archive, you may even come across new options that you
had not considered before, if buying books at a book shop is your only way
forward, you really have shut a lot of doors for yourself, which would be
out of character, as I am sure you came here looking to open doors for
yourself!?
