Subject: Some books for sale

I think some of the recent posts have been most interesting but I am
surprised about the extent to which people believe Derrens patter about
subliminal influence.

Re: The ghost punch
I believe this is a fine example of creating an instant stooge.
All you need to do to recreate this effect is just tip the guy a wink out of
camera shot. Notice how after the first 'punch' the guy comes up smiling!
"Can we do this again?" Says Derren "Yeah OK, go on then mate" And his final
reaction clinch's it for me "I didn't know what else to do I just felt that
impact, Quite shocking really"

This sentence would not come from the lips of someone who has just been
ghost punched. " I didn't know what else to do???" You had time to think
about what to do once the impact had been felt???
If the word 'shocking' is ever preceded by 'quite' then you know the impact
is being exagerrated from its inital occurence if something is really
shocking initially, it doesnt become 'quite' shocking later.

Re: The blind man
I believe Derren does use subtle voice inflection in this but not to extent
that most seem to believe. He knows in advance the gents Location and choice
of music and cuisine and the inflection and cueing is used to achieve the
choices of Indoors (Home in on one part) Red wine (Okay so we'll assume this
is a REDstaurant, red wine or white wine?). The ideas discussed in previous
posts about embedding 'hereford' in "Nowhere you think i might guess" or
'Jazz' and talking about the waiter are very unlikely to be true because
although they would be very clever if it were true it would certainly not be
a reliable method guaranteed to work every time. Rather I think these
statements about cats and waiters not waitresses are just to ensure that he
uses the first thing that comes into his head. Finally what might you smell
in a restaurant its only gonna be one of three things the food from the
kitchen , flowers on the table or candles scented. Derren ensure the chap
wont pick the first two by including them in the question. Unfortunately he
went a little too specific witht he sandlewood.

Anyway Ive speculated enough and I am sure there is more to know than any
here will ever guess and I am wary of Derrens extensive verbal garbage and
anyone thats read Pure effect or Absolute Magic knows that there is no limit
to the depth of trickery that Derren will go to. Also those in the know will
have read how Derren came to train in NLP with Bandler in California and
also how he may have quoted in pure effect "although there is no doubt that
some of this is well observed (referring to non verbal communication,
representation systems and anchoring) NLP has evolved in a rather dubious
and unchecked way as a highly evangelical package of techniques that have no
substantial support for their claims"

FInally I should like say I have some books for sale. If anyone is
interested please mail me seperately for price negotiations and rest assured
if we cant meet to exchange in person then we'll think of something else
whereby you and I both feel secure about the transaction.
I am selling my copies of

Pure effect 3rd edition
Seven Deceptions
Ormond McGills Enclyclopedia of stage hypnosis
Suggestion And Autosuggestion - Baoduin (old classic)
Psychological Subleties - Banachek
Psychokinetic Silverware - Banachek

UNtil next time
