I don't want to give stuff away but bear in mind you're not seeing or
hearing everything that's happening. He's not 'guessing' words in people's
heads. The dirty work is off-camera.

"I know a lot of people keep mentioning that what Derren does is just
magic tricks and it's the presentation that makes what he does appear
to be psychological. Don't confuse method with presenation they keep
saying. I can relate to this on a lot of his 'tricks' but how on
earth can he guess words in peoples' heads ?

I just listened to the sound clip of him on Bristol radio and he
correctly guessed a town in Cornwall and even threw in that the
presenter was initially thinking of a bicycle !!! How can he do
this ? He can't be putting the suggestion in their heads as the names
they think of are usually personal to them and Derren had never even
heard of the Cornish town the presenter thought of.
He asks his 'subject' to look him in the eye and think of various
letters within the word - is this all for show or does this really
help him ?

If anybody could shed some light on this then I would be grateful!?"

Suggestion is very much a part of hypnosis - much of what Derren does is
based on stage hypnotism techniques (something he used to do on a regular
basis). There are several books on the subject. There aren't many stage
hypnotism acts in the UK any more as it's difficult to get insurance for it
nowadays. With a bit of practice these techniques aren't as hard as they
seem.

"now. My question is , on the first ever derren brown
mind control he got on a tube and went up to this guy
, asked him if he had a good memory and made him
forget what station he wass getting off at.Is this
suggestion or hypnosis. I would be really greatful to
anyone who could type out the full explanation. Thanx
in advance!"
