Non-computery people switch-off from the next paragraph and re-
address just how lucky you are - not to be good at computers. As
cipher from The Matrix says: "ignorance is bliss".

Thanks for your suggestion, I admit, I was going to –politely–
decline, but in the last 10 mins I have just found both a non-gui and
an even better GUI version of Lame mp3. I prefer the gui as you can
guess - how on earth do those linux-boys stand typing EVERY SINGLE
COMMAND?! To be truthful (and since a good few people on this board
bitch at you when you don't speak fairly) I know its simply because
of my true jealousy that I can't learn linux for the life of me. It
takes ages.

Back to the point... the mp3 files of Derren on the radio were made
that low-bit-rate simply because of size. It may surprise you all to
learn that I update my site using nothing but a floppy drive – as I
have the internet at work, and not at home! That, along with ISPs
stopping you from hosting any big files freely, is why they were such
crap quality.

In conclusion, thanks for the suggestion (I was blissfully unaware of
lame till you pointed it out). I will re-encode any more –in the
future– with "lame".

To re-encode the whole lot is now out of the question, but I can make
a compromise – I have the same (new) mp3 files encoded in 64Kbit,
rather than 32Kbit. If anyone on here wants them, I can send them via
email to you. Simply contact email me to request them (see the
contact page on my site for more info).
