its impossible to recapture the initial amazement .
for you with aliens ( its ok 6 /10)
because many other films since have used newer and
copycat thrills /tension.
if you had never seen the film then it would still
come across as weaker than it did in 1986 , also the
later alien films spoilt it .
you could always try to tell your self to forget the
movie . read tony buzan .mind maps and that sort of
thing.
your right about that old rubbish tat poses as horror
these days ...
