I have amended your text to try too put exactly what he said with the
correct intonations/inflections as this is most important.

>Do you believe in any kind of psychic abilitie at all?

(await response, this builds expectancy which is crucial)

do me a favour, just Press your hand into the desk, just there a minute.

(physiological response working with the suggestion, dont forget the womans
arm is horizonatal and she is pressing into the table, try it now a for the
time it takes to read the next few lines and you'll notice that the muscles
dont want too lift, same as when you press your backs of your hands into a
door frame for a minute or so and then when you step out of it they kind of
want to raise up all by themselves)

"now i'm not gonna hypnotise you, im just going to show you something that
is ... interesting!, its a kind of psychological trick. ok?
(await response again builds expectancy and certainty)
just press your hand into the table. look me right in the eye.
When i take my hand off yours, you will not be able to lift your hand up
into the air... in fact the more you TRY IN VAIN to unstick it from the
table, the tighter it STICKS."

(TRY IN VAIN is a clever command which utilises the law of reversed effort
i.e the more you try the more you fail, trying in itself is the opposite not
the midway point to doing, he tells her to "TRY IN VAIN" and that is what
she does. STICKS is a command to the hand.)

(change tonality, notice the little growl at the begining of this next
sentance, its purpose is surprise and resulting confusion.)

GO ON TRY as hard as you can to lift it, but you can't. the more you try,
the more ...it just keeps on STICKing!
>
>the woman could not move her hand from here on.

She would have evenutally been able to move her hand had Derren not
continued to distract her attention with questions like "what is this like?,
even him talking to the mic is distraction enough from her own thought
process's

"Now heres the really weird thing, and without hypnotising you or doing
anything weird, when i touch you on the hand the land will lift o.k? and the
hand will be free and the reason its free is because your name will disapear
from your mind..You know what it's like when you've got something on the tip
of your tongue that you know that you should know but the more you try and
remember the more impossible it is too recall."

(started as a question "you know what its like when" then changed to command
tonality "You've got something on the tip of your tongue." confusion
suggestion - "You know that you should know" Law of reversed effort again
"and the more you try and remember the more impossible it is to recall" -
await affirmative response)

"I touch you there the hand lifts (gesture hand lift) look at me what was
your name????"

(blank look. again he keeps her from remembering by making her think about
the answers to his questions what's this like etc. notice the cause and
effect structure of the suggestion 'the hand will lift BECAUSE your name
will dissapear from your mind', as the hand has lifted the other must also
have taken place - stacking presuppositions i think.)
Finally the speed which this is delivered is important because you dont wnat
them to have a chance to question anything that is being said rather they
should process it all in a flow.
The chances are without the radio station setting this would work best with
the 20% of the population who are highly responsive to suggestion and only
in the right social circumstances, that is why setting the context and what
is to be expected is so important. If she thought she was about to witness a
psychic trick then she would have gone about it with doubt's trying to spot
the fraud and hence it wouldnt work something that is described as
"...interesting!" will be processed in a different context entirely. SO how
do you know if you've got someone highly responsive to suggestion....you
dont you have to try it out.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

after this, derren
>told her that when she is able to lift her hand, she will have
>forgotton her name. lol, it was quite funny!
>
>but how do you explain that? was it hypnotism?

Suggestion yes, much research has gone into showing that all so called
hypnotic phenomenon can be produced without the task of inducing a trance
and this is a fine demo of that.

Some particularly interested people have proven the law of reversed effort
by thinking to themselves "in a moment i'm going to try to swallow" and then
make the move trying to swallow. i wonder what you'll find, everyone's
different.
