hi ,
hands with needles inserted in them and toothache in theatre of medical
history ,as well as hands stuck to tables desk ,are all well recognised forms
of hypnotic suggestions and sucapptability tests.

i hear what u sayin, but he did this same trick again at a radio
station on a live broadcast on Radio 1. This is exactly what he said:

"do me a favour, just put ur hand on the desk, just there a minute.
im not gonna hypnotise you, im just going to show you something that
is interesting, its a kind of psychological trick. ok? just press
your hand into the table. look me right in the eye, when i take my
hand off yours, you will not be able to lift your hand off. the more
you try to unstick it from the table, the tighter it sticks. you will
try as hard as you can to lift it, but you can't. the more you try,
the more it keeps on sticking..."

the woman could not move her hand from here on. after this, derren
told her that when she is able to lift her hand, she will have
forgotton her name. lol, it was quite funny!

but how do you explain that? was it hypnotism?
