Oh definitely. Because I run a Derren site, I had a girl email me,
suggesting a page on photo reading. The sweet thing was, she
said "make a page because this really does exist – I saw Derren do it
on the librarian!". If only the public knew how Derren really works!
In the lecture vid, you even get more insight into Derren when he
says "if you really find your technique / type of magic, the question
as to whether or not to use a stooge becomes more of an aesthetical
matter, rather than ethical one."
I'm sure Derren doesn't use stooges in his show, but having heard him
say that, you realise just how far Derren would go, just to make an
effect look "real". And, having seen the lecture video, in the candle
effect on MC I (as reluctant as I was in the past to say this) would
now say that he would have protected his hand in some way. It would
be great if he did it for real, but I realise now that Derren is more
a magician than a psychologist.
Oh, if any of you guys could tape Derren on the radio, I'll post it
on the site if you could send it to me. Cheers.
