On a seperate and slightly more amusing note, there is a way in which you
can 'hypnotise' birds.

Some may object to this, i assure i've never seen any bird psychologically
hurt or scared by this.

Basically a bird spends all its life supported by its feet or its wings.
Take it by the neck gently from behind and cup it up in your arm, holding it
in the way you would a baby so its head is supported and immobile

then you have to minimise the external cues by blocking out its vision, and
having silence around you, you absolutely dont want any other birds singing
nearby.

Slowly turn it from being in a vertical position to laying it on its back.
Slowly and steadily is the key to this. The bird having no experience of
such a bodily orientation searches its mind for how to react, when it
realises it doesnt know how to react it just closes its eyes and lays on its
back with its wings spread out on tthe floor.
You can leave it there and it will awaken in a few minutes or you can snap
you fingers by its head if you want to look flash.

This was demonstrated on eurotrash a while ago with a 3 foot rooster which
was fascinating. It is also the method that was used by david blaine to
'bring a dead bird back to life'

What interests me about this is (and I once spent a fortnight on a chicken
farm) it only seems to work once on each bird! this concurs with the
assumption that the apparent lack of activity is due to not knowing how to
respond because once it has happened it then knows how to respond i.e just
piss off and that is what it does when any attempt subsequent to the first
is made.

Have fun and be nice!

Phil
