Subject: Charm not Smarm

Alex, I thought your post was hilarious and it
prompted me to come out of the woodwork, out of the
shadows I mean, to introduce myself to the group and
comment on your post.

My name is Fal, originally from Denmark but living in
UK since 10 years, I am an Architect by profession but
a magician by interest. In Norway I performed
profesionally the magic for three years but not yet
here in UK. There are three stages... Cards, Coins,
and now we get on to the real stuff! Mind Reading!

In UK, the magician is a lowly figure for a long time,
in Europe and USA etc., he is higher status and it is
easy for a good magician to be successful on stage and
TV.

But Alex, you ask: hey babes, what has He got? I don't
see it. He is not supernatural. He is not real magic.
Why don't the girlies like me? So come on all you
girls out there!

Again I think it is a good joke!

But I am sad because a part of me thinks you do not
joke and you really believe the girls will give you
the answer on a silver plate then you too will have
the power over women.

He is polite, he is courteous, he is handsome in face
and in spirit. He's witty without belittling the
audience (the common English Magician way) and is
interested in them. He speaks in sentences, and sadly
Alex you don't write in true sentences. And yet all
these things do not add up to the whole Derren... he
never appears aloof yet we know there is so much more
to him, indeed this is his career! So this is why he
is well liked by both men and women. But while the
women want to marry him, the men want to be him or be
like him.

So it is more than to baffle the shit out of people,
this will never replace genuine charm.

I wish you well in your magic career and I hope to
comment more regularly here in the forthcoming
Derrenmania months.

Fal Sedog
