Details Details.....
Okay let me see what I can do, I have learnt that derren often will try and
create false memorys of his effects to blur even more the possibility of
having them worked out. Anyone else noticed this?
Derren often randomly chose a spectator by throwing a ball to someone and
having them throw it over their shoulder and whoever caught it or was
closest to it was selected. As in the art gallery I believe.
In this way a spectator was selected and given a choice of three shapes
derren correctly predicted which would be chosen.
Another spec was given a choice of a £500 cheque or a picture of figaro if
they chose an envelope and got too keep it contents. Derren explained this
game at the start and throughtout the first half would refer back to it
repeatedly each time appearing to try to influence her and allow her to
change her mind etc. A point of comedy throughout. (of course she went home
with the parrot in the end up)
Next came a demonstration of derrens trademark pieces namely 'Lift' and
'Reminisence' seen on MC 2 i think. Details for those that dont know Lift is
where a spectator is put into a trance (using most commonly the Handshake
interruption technique, which is derived from a guy named Milton Erickson a
famous american hypnotherapist)and then is intsructed to lift his arm in
such a fashion only when she feels the time is right. Derren then first uses
his arm to remote control the spectators arm up and then back down in
perfect syncronisation with his own movements. Another spec is dropped into
a trance and with a little practice finds that she can also remote control
spec a's arm with her own movements. A third spectator is selected for
'Reminisence' and is dropped into a trance and Derren asks him to think of a
childhood memory he then describes it in detail on the whiteboard behind
him, he would write 'Garden' then ask the specator where this memory is
taking place he says 'garden' then he would write 'cousin' and ask are you
with anyone? Very eery.... very impressive, derren also divines the NAMES of
people involved in these memory's.
A demonstration of telepathy and automatic writing is next as two new
spectators both fall prey to the handshake interupt induction and one is
asked to allow the pen to just move over the paper any way it likes, the
other is asked too think of and transmit a two digit number across the room.
nobody announces the number until the writer has stopped writing and derren
turns the board upside down! to show that it kind of looks like a number 15,
spectator B is then asked too reveal for the first time the number he tried
too transmit... of course it's 15.
How the hell does that work, someone muttered behind me.
Derren commands an invisible force on two further spectators both with eyes
closed and one hand outstretched, after focusing his attention he taps the
hand of one three times and asks the other how many times he felt the taps
they say three and the audiance gasp....
Incidentally throughout all of this Derren is throwing out strange nonsenses
and what seem to be explanations for the phenomena occuring, if you have a
keen ear you can notice many embedded commands and hypnotic / NLP language
patterns, these could be part of the method or part of the distraction from
the method. What do you think?
Okay here's one that i haven't figured out, Derren explains that we 'the
audiance' will divine the name of his friend. Everyone randomly begins to
call out letters of the alphabet and derren writes them up as he hears them,
after a few lines of random letters a name is spelt 'Barry' at which point
derren tells everyone to stop calling out letters and he underlines it. then
asks a spec to open an envelope which contains a picture that was signed by
his friend that we have just named????
Another one that I can figure out...Two more spectators are brought on stage
and given some of Barry's things too handle too see what can be felt from
them and the spectators are told not too think but too just say things that
come too them. Spectator A is finding it hard too think of anything too say
soo derren prompts a little and she say's that she think Barry liked playing
hockey
a hockey shirt is instantly displayed from the box of Barry's belongings??
The other spectator is even more succesful correctly naming things that
prove 100% accurate with what derren and Barry recorded on a tape which was
on the table and played at the end, I cannot do this effect justice by
writing about it and I suspect Derren would be none too happy about me
writing these things but believe me It was incredible. And then with the
same spectator, a photograph of barry is placed out of her view behind her
and she is asked to make up a description of what barry looks like this she
does in perfect detail exactly according to the photo that she cant see...
This spectator is obviously very in tune with Derrens friend and next thing
he does is induce her into a state where she actually sees Barry's ghost and
then feels him touch her on the leg. This spectator was entranced and
looking directly at me while this effect was happening obviously I dont know
exactly what she saw but i saw the empty look in her eyes as she focused on
nothing, You can tell when someone is looking at you but not seeing you and
thats all i could tell, I could also tell that she felt something touch her
leg and that nobody was anywhere near her when this happened.
I've got nothing better to do than to sit here and write this review, how
many people have got jobs where they have nothing to do but get paid to chat
shit online for hours?? Ha...
Sorry, my mind wandered, maybe it's being remotely confused by some unknown
signal, sorry my mind wandered again.
Where was I, oh yeah halfway in between over there and the twilight zone by
this point in the show everyone was enthralled, you can kind of tell that
people are way beyond trying to figure out how its done and are just
appreciating the astonishment, a credit to Derrens performing style.
Onto the spookiest part where a Ouiji board comes into it and I should like
to say at this point that something rather strange happened next, Derren was
looking around for some spectators to use for the Ouiji board and selected a
woman and then looked around before settling his eye on me! He asked me to
stand and then paused for a moment looking in my eye's before he said
quietly "no i'm sorry I cant use you for this effect" .... that left me
equally puzzled and although I'm at a loss to say what he saw in my eyes
that changed his mind about me being in on the effect however I suspect that
Derren is very careful about his spectators and he had already noticed that
I was watching him very carefully to figure out his secrets.....
So someone else was the second spectator in the ouiji board experiment which
I'm not gonna describe here as Derren also mentioned that It would be
included in his next TV shows. besides that I'm bored of writing this now
I hope you all enjoy reading it and again if you've managed to figure out
any methods then we can possibly trade some. Alternatively you can pay me a
suitably large sum of money and i'll explain one of those invisible force
tricks...maybe :-)
