Subject: Derren Brown & NLP
Dear All
I've been lurking on this list for a number of months and i've
finally decided to post
Firstly I've been studying NLP for 7 years
I have been hypnotising people for 4 years
I have been performing magic for about 2 - 3 years
The Whitgift / tube tricks are NLP language Patterns
The coin in the hand is based on sensory accuity (ie watching the
eyes/body language)
The instant hypnosis (synchronicity) is most definately possible
(I've done it)
However reading minds / telling people about their first love etc
may be partially based on sub vocalisation however 99% is based on a
trick ( again I know I've done it!)
Also the raising hand/ the twins being touched by thought alone are
tricks! The participants are not fake , you just don't see
everything on TV, remember he is not only manipulating the
participants, he's manipulating the audiance
Don't get me wrong Derren is fantastic and I love his stuff, and I'm
seeing him in bristol
NLP is fantasically powerful, it can help you understand a person,
it doesn't make you a mind reader!
