Subject: Re: help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was at university the guy who was in the room next to me in
halls did philsosophy. He had about 3 hours of lectures/seminars a
week. Thing was he didn't even bother going to these. I think he had
to repeat the year.

If you are going to be doing Eng Lit and philosophy you will have a
massive amount of reading to do for both parts of your course. Each
half of the course will have it's own long reading list with (I guess)
little to no overlap.

If you are interested enough then the reading list will be fun but
chances are that in your first year of university all you want to do
is party.

If you are in it for the cash do business/management with
European/American element to it (might even get to do a year abroad).

Otherwise pick something you have an interest in that can be sustained
over 3 years(possibly a lifetime).

As Gordon said a good degree in a more esoteric subject is often
better than a poor degree in a more popular subject.

Remember this is a big decision but it isn't the final one. If it
isn't working then change it.

Wherever you end up and whatever you end up doing enjoy it.

/Mike

PS You are right about the frozen north - it is always raining in
Yorkshire. Just wait until you get to live a cold draughty hovel in
your second year whilst being totally skint. Aaah memories.
