I caught some of this.

The NLP guy used Time Line Therapy. Essentially the businessman went
back to his earliest memory of him feeling neglected (I think), he
then banished that feeling from the memory and then worked up through
his life removing this "neglected" feeling from all the times he
remembered feeling it.

The idea was this "neglected" feeling impacted on his relationships
(in and out of work). He constantly had to seek to be liked. As he was
a manager this wasn't always a good thing - can't really bollock
people if you are trying to be their friend.

The most interesting thing about this was the NLP guy charged 2 grand
a session. I think the price actually helps the therapy work. If you
are shelling out 2 grand a pop you would really want it to work and
would have to believe the practitioner was the "real thing". I think
the basic principles could be learned free of charge but the
"perceived value" has a lot to do with the cash charged.

The programme on after this was more revealing. "Would like to meet"
totally transformed a guy's life. The guy was a self confessed freak.
The consultants *completely* turned his life around at the age of 41.
The guy hadn't eaten a vegetable since he was a kid and got takeaway
chicken and chips every night of his life. It was funny when they
persuaded him to try brocolli for the first time. He looked like they
were trying to poison him and surprise, surprise he "didn't hate it".
Oops strayed even further off the DB discussion.
