Firstly, good luck with the training.

I
myself have 'learned' hypnosis only from books and by
practicing. But an hour with a guy like McGill would probably
teach me more than i could get from any book, and
certainly greatly icrease my knowledge.

My first
resource was one of those Pop(i.e. Crappy) self-hypnosis
books, in order to reduce the pain of a running injury.
I can't rember the name of the book, but it was
that bad !!. I picked up one or two tricks such as arm
levatation and managed to get it to work on my brothers
wife.

Over the past four years, or so, I have read some more
books, some good, and some bad. I suppose, I would like
to think i have learned quite a lot.

In my
view one of the main benefits of doing you own
research, is probably the fact that, you can ask educated
questions. And undestand to an extent the answers.

To
be honest, i think people, myself included, would
certainly benefit (to a lesser or greater extent) with some
formal training.

I my opinion, with any form of
training, it is uncommon to leave with less knoledge than
you entered with.

But that does not imply
that you need training to be very skilled. I think
quite a few magicians and hypnotists are self taught
from books.

Anyway, it is nice to see the
board, is more active. And please don't take any offence
with what i have said.

It is just me rambling
on. So i will stop.

Cheers,
Gordon
