Subject: Ghost Punch...An interesting point.
I've just noticed something in the Ghost Punch
segment in MC2, which has become more evident since
watching The Devil's Picturebook. After Derren asks the
kung fu master to select someone, he turns away to
allow the kung fu master a view of the lined up
students, which Derren was partially obscuring. Thus,
Derren turns to the left of the screen, meaning the
students are revealed right to left by his turn, which if
I'm not mistaken is the preferred way of reading by
the Chinese.
Basically, I think Derren has
probably sized up Archie beforehand (remember, Derren saw
them demonstrating kung fu before the segment started,
so he would have been able to see which students
were more expressive and therefore better/more
suggestible subjects.) and positioned him, or had one of the
crew position him at the end of the line to increase
his chance of selection....meaning he would be the
most obvious selection for a right to left
reader!
Of course, I could be on an Oliver Stone here, but I
think there could be more than meets the eye here,
which is usually the case with Derren.
