Interesting point beyondthemagic, as I have
experienced much the same when I was at University. I was
very out of shape and started doing circuit
training....anyway, about 2-3 weeks in, the instructor decides to
take us on a dummy run of the upcoming charity fun
run, which I think was about 4km if I remember
correctly (over two laps). This was way beyond me at this
point in time, or so I thought. Funnily enough, I got
caught behind this girl from New Zealand with the most
delectable backside you could possibly imagine and I guess
this carrot dangling in front of me caused me to
'trance out' because I finished the course and could
quite happily have done a third lap. I went on to do
the fun run proper a few weeks later too. The girl,
incidentally, went on to run the London Marathon that year and
I dare say that stuck behind her, I could have
too!
By the way, are you sure it was your arm that was
experiencing rigid catalepsy?
